Chef Valentina

Hi, I am Chef Valentina

With heritage like Valentina’s, it is no wonder she is such a well-respected authority on Italian food and all aspects of Italian food culture, including its health benefits.

Tracing her family back to 1369 through the illustrious Sforza dynasty, Valentina is the youngest member of a large Anglo-Italian family of gourmets. Educated in Italy, Valentina brought her qualifications for teaching and cooking from Rome to London in 1976, where she built her reputation primarily as a private chef until the publication of her first award-winning cookery book in 1984 - ‘Perfect Pasta’.

The award winning author of over 50 books on Italian food, Valentina is a well known celebrity chef and an experienced and enthusiastic teacher at a number of schools including Divertimenti and Caldesi in London, The Bertinet Kitchen in Bath, The Billingsgate Cookery School and the renowned School of Artisan Food in Welbeck, sharing her food philosophy of seasonal local produce served with minimum fuss and maximum care. ‘Fiori di Zucca: Recipes and Memories from My Family's Kitchen Table’ is Valentina’s long awaited book of family memoirs and recipes. Her books cover food and wine, culinary customs and traditions from all the regions of Italy including the book featuring her signature dish ‘Risotto Risotto’ . The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards declared Risotto! Risotto! as the winner selected to represent the UK in the Single Subject category. The Italian ‘Regional Cookbook, published by Anness, is her big book covering all aspects of the regional cuisine of Italy.

Valentina is a regular expert contributor to Platinum magazine, and regularly contributes her evocative style of food writing to delicious magazine, BBC Good Food magazine (she was until recently a valued member of the BBC External Advisory Board on all publications and media output related to food),  Crunchy Tales online magazine and other publications.
